Santen
The interactive education tool for eye experts
Turning complex science into a trusted HCP resource
How do you share new knowledge with a specialist audience – and make it stick? That question marked the starting point for Santen Eyesite: a flexible, interactive platform built for ophthalmology professionals. Developed in close collaboration with Santen’s Global Medical Affairs team, Santen Eyesite brings together immersive 3D animation, intuitive navigation, and scientific depth to make emerging research easier to explore and understand.
Challenge
Recent advances in glaucoma research highlighted the trabecular meshwork as a critical factor in disease progression – yet awareness of its role remained limited among ophthalmologists. High-quality visual material was scarce, and traditional formats offered little support for deeper understanding. This led Santen to look for an engaging way to translate complex mechanisms into a learning experience that supports scientific dialogue and peer-to-peer exchange.
Sensu's approach
We partnered with Santen to develop Santen Eyesite – a platform that combines scientific storytelling, visual depth, and clear structure. Launched with a glaucoma module, the experience uses layered 3D animation and hotspot-based navigation to support self-guided exploration. Calm pacing and thoughtful design make it equally effective on large touchscreen congress displays and in 1-on-1 MSL interactions. Hosted within ELLA, our proprietary CMS, the platform is built to support localisation and future expansion.

Presentation
"Santen Eyesite represents a breakthrough in how we represent eye disease. Its immersive, visual learning experience empowers eye care experts to explore pathophysiology with clarity and confidence, advancing education in a way that traditional formats simply can’t."

Designed with scientific integrity
The first Santen Eyesite module invites HCPs to explore the anatomy and pathophysiology of glaucoma at their own pace. Layered visuals and zoomable hotspots reveal detail without overwhelming, while a muted palette and clinical tone reflect the standards of scientific publishing – making complex knowledge more approachable without compromising rigour.
Shape what comes next.
Let’s talk about building a narrative that moves your audience.
Used by specialists across contexts
Santen Eyesite is designed to travel. From large touchscreen congress booths to 1-on-1 MSL meetings and internal training sessions, the platform adapts naturally to different settings. Its modular setup ensures consistency across touchpoints, while allowing teams to tailor the experience to each interaction.
Powered by ELLA
At the heart of Santen Eyesite sits ELLA – Sensu’s modular CMS for interactive scientific storytelling. ELLA enables teams to update, expand, and localise content, without compromising quality or coherence. It’s what turns a single experience into a long-term educational framework.
Take a look for yourself, and position your company at the forefront of a new kind of communication.
A visual system to build on
Alongside the experience itself, we developed a visual identity for Santen Eyesite that supports clarity, consistency, and long-term use. Inspired by ocular anatomy, the design language is deliberately subtle – allowing the content to lead while still giving the platform a distinct and coherent look. As the platform grows, this shared visual framework helps future chapters and formats feel immediately recognisable, without drawing attention away from the science.
Outcome
What began as a need for better visualisation evolved into a scalable platform for ongoing scientific exchange. With Santen Eyesite, Santen has a future-ready framework for sharing complex research with clarity – built to grow alongside advances in ophthalmology.
