Presenting a vision of the future

How can you demonstrate the life-saving potential of an invention that hasn't yet been built? This was our challenge with heart surgeon Jolanda Kluin's HybridHeart project, aimed at developing an artificial heart to save thousands of lives. Our mission was clear: effectively communicate the technology behind the invention and emphasise its profound societal impact.

Finding the emotional core

In this project, we highlighted the humanity behind the technology to secure funding. Our narrative intertwined the personal story of a passionate surgeon with the technological details, crafting a compelling tale that highlighted HybridHeart’s emotional and societal importance.

Reaching large audiences

The film received significant acclaim, winning Best Documentary and Best Visual Effects at the Global Short Film Awards 2024. It was also broadcast on Dutch television and has attracted over 250,000 online viewers. This widespread exposure not only raised the film’s profile, but also increased awareness of the HybridHeart project.

We choose to go to the moon

Our goal in creating the film was to craft a story that resonated globally and inspired the research team. We presented an inspirational vision that set a high standard and motivated the team towards success. Our approach drew inspiration from Kennedy’s famous challenge: “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”
